I used to watch a lot of short films, I sort of got away from them because I stopped watching a lot of TV.? Well tonight, since I had nothing better to do, I sat myself down and decided I was going to watch some horror movies. Bad ones at that, I love bad horror movies, they're a riot. Anyway, I started channel surfing and ended up watching some short films. The one that sticks out the most in my mind was this one called "Harvey." It starts off by the viewer seeing a man's eye as he looks through a mail slot from his apartment. A lady, who obviously lives next door comes home. As she's putting her key to her door she hears "Help me." It's so quiet that she isn't sure she heard it and stares at her neighbor's door and of course sees the mail slot open. As she steps closer it frightens him and he gasps and slams the slot shut. Confused, she stands there for a moment wondering, then goes into her apartment, never to think of it again. We then see him open the slot again and stare longingly at her door. Then, we go back to her. She's showering. We hear scraping and scuffling sounds and labored breathing. She sees a shadow on her shower curtain and pulls it back revealing a man standing in her bathroom. His side is to us but you can immediateky see he is in some sort of trouble and come to the conclusion that it is her neighbor. He turns to her. We see that half of him is missing and there's is a thick trail of blood on the floor where he has dragged himself into her apartment and suction cupped himself to her bathroom mirror. Gross, I know but somehow not disturbing, you feel bad for him as he again asks for her help. "Help me" in a very raspy voice. She screams, slips in her shower, knocks her head onto the tub. We then see nothing but shadows, heavy breathing and noises that sound like someone being dragged. She wakes up. He has split her in two and sewed her to himself.?It's very poor stitching and you can see them move independantly of each other every so often. He looks somehow ashamed but satisfied, she looks hopeless and mortified. She tries to tear herself away from him but he holds her hand until she gives up and cries. Next we see them laying in her bed. She is trying not to cry and he is trying to make her feel a bit better. She struggles again, not wanting to accept it, he rubs his hand across her face, caresses her breast...tries very purely to make her feel okay. You can tell this is a sexual moment between the two of them and the wide shot reveals no defining sexual organs. There are just one, a different kind of being. But of course one is not willing. Next shot we see is of her side view, slowly mopping the blood from the night before from the floor. She mops her way to her door and opens it up, slowly. She looks across the hallway at the neighbors door. The mail slot is up and we see one sad blue eye looking out at her. She peers back, whole once again with a faint stitch line running down her middle. She looks apologetically to the door then shuts her own. We then see him in his dark apartment, mail slot shut, back to the door....half the man he used to be.
As funny as it may sound I absolutely loved this film. It wasn't disturbing or disgusting in any way. It was graphic but I think in so many ways it represents what relationships do to women. We give up part of ourselves to love someone and we can never get it back without some damage, some scars. Some that never heal. Some men need completion, not realizing that not every woman wants that, not every woman will put up with that. Women don't like giving up part of themselves without something in return. Some men want to be saved and some women can't do it. I know there have been times when I've felt like Harvey's neighbor. But there's been times when I've felt like Harvey too. Thankfully, you live and learn, and I've learned that I don't have to feel either of those ways again.

《My love is as a fever》
  My love is as a fever, longing still
  For that which longer nurseth the disease,
  Feeding on that which doth preserve the ill,
  The uncertain sickly appetite to please.
  My reason, the physician to my love,
  Angry that his prescriptions are not kept,
  Hath left me, and I desperate now approve
  Desire is death, which physic did except.
  Past cure I am, now reason is past care,
  And frantic-mad with evermore unrest;
  My thoughts and my discourse as madmen's are,
  At random from the truth vainly express'd;
  For I have sworn thee fair and thought thee bright,
  Who art as black as hell, as dark as night.
  只得愈益不安的发著狂癫;
  任意的瞎扯,虚妄的歪缠;
